How the typing test is scored

  • Punjabi is typed in Unicode Raavi font on the INSCRIPT keyboard. The test runs for 10 minutes.
  • To qualify you need at least 30 words per minute and at least 92% accuracy.
  • Full mistake: a missed word, a wrong word, an extra word, or missing punctuation. A wrong or missing matra, addak or half letter makes the whole word wrong.
  • Half mistake: a spacing error, such as two words joined or one word split.
  • Vowels are typed as single keys. ਉ is Shift+G, never ੳ followed by ੁ.
Formula used here error chars = mistakes × 5 net chars = gross chars − error chars gross WPM = gross chars ÷ 5 ÷ minutes net WPM = net chars ÷ 5 ÷ minutes accuracy = net chars ÷ gross chars × 100 Example: 1,650 characters with 6 full and 2 half mistakes in 10 minutes gives 7 mistakes, 35 error characters, gross 33 WPM, net 32.3 WPM and 97.9% accuracy. Always check the rules in your own recruitment notice.
